It is interesting to learn about the birth of cartoon characters in American History. As we take a walk through time, we see "Alice In Wonderland" was the first short animation film produced by Disney. Mickey Mouse followed in 1928, just one year before the Great Depression. Shortly after that Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs, the first feature-length animated film hit the theaters. Then we have Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig and Tweety Bird who arrived on the scene 10 years later.

Super heroes have remained popular from their beginnings. The super hero characters came to life in 1939 just as World War II had begun when cartoons were a light hearted way for people to deal with devastating loses. Batman and Superman are often paired together in their crime fighting pursuits. DC comics, now owned by Warner Brothers introduced many of the Marvel heroes.

Thanks to Charles Schulz, Peanuts and Charlie Brown arrived in 1950. The comic strip has been known as "one of the most influential and well-written comic strips of all time." Baby boomers can remember reading comic strips around the same time they were learning to read.

Alice In Wonderland plays with a cat she calls Kitty and that inspired Yuko Shimizu to create the infamous "Hello Kitty." Hello Kitty is reported to weigh as much as three apples and is as tall as five apples." Her popularity has produced a company worth $5 billion dollars.
